Food Service

Food service at the Bengal Cafe is provided by Flik Independent School Dining.

  • Lunch Structure and Pricing

    Lower School
    • Lower school lunch for 2022-23 is $5.95
    • Lower school lunches are pre-order only. Please select from a choice of hot entrée with two sides, entrée salad, or deli sandwich meal. Small milk or water is included with each meal. Organic milk with a meal is available for an additional $1.50. A la carte organic milk is $2.25. Regular small milk is .75.
    • Menus and order forms will be added to the FLIK Resource Board and included in PawPrints.
    • Accounts will be charged accordingly the day of the lunch.
    Middle & Upper School
    • A middle and upper school lunch meal combo for 2022-23 is $7.00. The lunch meal combo includes a choice of hot entrée with two sides, full salad bar, or daily chef’s special selection.
    • We also offer items a la carte to be purchased individually, such as bottled beverages, ice cream, snacks, desserts, fruit, yogurt, and more. Prices for these items will be posted in the serving area.

  • Payment

    The Bengal Cafe operates on a cashless system. Beginning August 2022, students in grades 5–12 will receive an ID badge to charge any purchases to their GDS student billing account. If a student loses their ID badge, there is a $15 charge to replace it. 
     
    Students in Bitty Bengals–4th grade will continue pre-ordering school lunches using the posted menu and Google form. Their student billing accounts will be charged daily based on the pre-ordered selections.

  • Allergies and Special Dietary Needs

    FLIK believes in a customized approach to serving students with special dietary needs. If you have a question or would like to discuss your student’s special dietary needs, please contact Liz Manning at Flik@greensboroday.org.

  • Keeping You Safe

    Flik is taking extra precautions with the safety of your students in mind. 
    • We will always observe the policies of Greensboro Day school in regards to wearing masks and distancing. 
    • Extra hand sanitizing stations will be available all over the dining room as well as single-use gloves to minimize shared touch points on our salad bar. 
    • Paper and plastic “to-go” style packaging with lids will be used to make it easy to transport your lunch to your designated lunch area.

  • About Bengal Bus Service

    Greensboro Day School provides an option bus service both to and from school. Potential service routes and rates for the 2022–23 school year are listed below.

    Final bus routes, along with pick-up and drop-off times, will be based on enrollment and route demand. We will make every attempt to let you know as soon as we can whether or not your potential route will be offered.

    Rates are listed below. Please note that we cannot prorate for missing time due to athletics, drama, or other activities or illness. Once a contract is signed for the year, that fee must remain in place for us to run an effective program. We will continue to offer a prorate for regular two- or three-day riders. See the rates listed for non-regular riders.

    Additional child(ren) receive a 20% discount on transportation fees. The third (or more) child from a single household will ride for free.

  • Daily Rates for Non-Regular Riders

    • Both Ways: $20
    • One Way: $15 for all routes, except Burlington.
