At Greensboro Day School, we believe music is an essential part of a well-rounded education. Students learn about singing, rhythm and movement, performing, creativity, improvisation, teamwork, problem solving, and much more.
The Music Department at Greensboro Day School offers a wide range of musical opportunities from PreK-12th grade. Lower School students receive general music instruction two or three days per week and may also take Suzuki violin or cello instruction as an option.
In Middle School, all 5th and 6th graders experience a quarter of chorus and a quarter of the instrumental music of their choice, either band or strings. 7th and 8th graders may choose band, strings, or chorus, as well as any of our other arts offerings when selecting their arts electives.
Upper School students may participate in a wide range of musical ensembles, including chorus, concert band, jazz band, pep band, orchestra, or chamber music.
