Seniors Recognized during 2020 Convocation Ceremony

During the virtual Convocation Ceremony on Tuesday, May 19, members of the Class of 2020 were recognized for their achievements in academics, arts, athletics, citizenship, and environmental stewardship. The ceremony was held virtually on Zoom.

Cate Gwinnett ‘20, the 2019-20 Poet Laureate shared a poem at the beginning of the ceremony.

Nathan Hayes ‘20, Celia Levy ‘20, and Graysen Shirley '20 were announced as the Edward G. Dickison Environmental Award Recipients. 

Zaira Arfeen ‘20 and Cason Pierce ‘20 received the 12th Grade Citizenship Awards. 

A member of the senior class is recognized with the Maureen B. Gerhardt Award. This honor is presented annually to a senior who best exemplifies the honor, personal integrity, responsible citizenship, and service to the community as articulated in the Greensboro Day School mission statement. Congratulations to Ruishi Chen ‘20, on her recognition as the Maureen B. Gerhardt Award recipient.

Student speakers included Zaira Arfeen ‘20 on friendship, Nick Saunders ‘20 on scholarship, and Cason Pierce ‘20 on sportsmanship.

Nick Saunders ‘20 was recognized as a National Merit Scholarship recipient.

, Upper School Director, Kristen Tuma, Upper School Assistant Director, and Tracie Catlett, Head of School presented the awards, traditional slideshow, and inspirational messages to the members of the Class of 2020.
